MISSIONS

At First we’re all about taking the love of Christ outside the church to meeting people where they are. Sometimes that looks like helping restore their homes after they’ve experienced a natural disaster such as a flood. Sometimes that means sharing the hope of Jesus with a teen in a group home. Sometimes that looks like helping a non-profit organization accomplish something they couldn’t on their own.

Each time, though, it looks like people caring for and sharing with, others, in this area of N. Texas, in the United States and around the world. From tornado and flood relief to helping train the next generation of ministry teams in Europe to ministering to the homeless right here in the Falls we want to be about sharing Christ through words and action.

Whether you’ve been on countless mission trips or are just wanting to take your first steps we can plug you into Missions Ministry as we do our part in living out Matthew 28:19&20.

Our church participates each year in both Operation Christmas Child and Angel Tree ministries.

Operation Christmas Child, thru Samaritan's Purse, delivers Christmas "shoeboxes" to children around the world.  These boxes are filled by Christians here in the states, like members of our church, who want children to have a special Christmas.  In addition to receiving gifts like toys and coloring books every child hears the Gospel of Jesus Christ as part of this amazing outreach.

Angel Tree ministries helps deliver special Christmas gifts to children who have a parent that is incarcerated.  Working with Prison Fellowship this amazing Christmas outreach shares both the love of Christ as well as gifts with children.

International Missions

We believe Mark 13:10, the gospel is to be preached to every nation. From our partnership with Romania’s Emmanuel University, the largest evangelical sending institution for the training of future leaders in Europe, to our support of missionaries around the world through the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention, our church links together with other believers to share the Good News of Jesus with a world at risk. Other areas of involvement include assistance with Mission Aviation Fellowship work in Africa and the sharing of the gospel in countries/nations we can’t really mention here. Want to know more about our work around the world – get involved in our Missions Ministry. Contact Pastor of Missions, Rod Payne, at (940) 723-2764.

Local Missions

There are many missions opportunities for adults, youth, children and families at First Baptist Church who desire to actively be involved in throughout the year. We have had teams that helped right here in the state of Texas and our local community. From our yearly Cans by the Car which donates thousands of pounds of food to local ministries to our Angel Tree Outreach in association with Prison Fellowship bring joy to children we can find a place to plug you in! We are also working with Project Back to School to help provide much needed school supplies for children at Scotland Park Elementary School as well as a weekly, during the school year, Good News Club. We are in need of volunteers to serve as mentors at this school investing just 30 min. a week during the school year to make a big difference in the life of a child.

Everyone is invited to be an active participant or to serve as a prayer partner.

Serve Saturday

Our FBC Guys and Gals had a number of great opportunities to serve others in our community through . . .

Most importantly every family served was both prayed with and given a new Bible!

Other Opportunities For Service

Our community has a number of opportunities where you may plug in to demonstrate our third "D" of deployment by helping others. From our local Red Cross to Big Brothers, Big Sisters to Straight Street, there are needs in our area for people with a little time and big hearts. Please contact our Pastor of Missions, Rod Payne, regarding these and many other opportunities.

National Missions

We continue to have opportunities to be engaged in mission work in a number of locations around the U.S. On-going needs presented by natural disasters continue to give us opportunities for both personal involvement as well as financial support with such organizations as the Baptist Yellow Hats and the American Red Cross.  Our Missions Efforts in Utah include financial assistance with several church plants there including The Church of the Valley in Salt Lake City and Redemption Church in Ogden. We take teams up on occasion to help both churches continue to reach new people in Utah as our church serves as a Key Church for that area of the U.S. Pictured on this page is a group working hard for Operation Christmas Child. From helping with tornado relief in Oklahoma to working alongside a church plant in California we seek to serve God outside of our area.
