Private Lessons (Academy of Fine Arts)
Private instruction consists of one 30 minute lesson per week (45 or 60 minute lessons for advanced students may be available). The Academy of Fine Arts stresses individual practice time. Students (and parents of young students) should be prepared to practice on their instrument several times each week for at least 15 minutes. More advanced students will require extra practice time. Our instructors do everything they can to make lessons a great experience, but there is no substitute for a student's preparation. Plan to practice, follow through, and you are set for a rewarding musical journey, the benefits of which will last a lifetime!
Private Instruction Available:
- Bass Guitar
- Brass Instruments
- Woodwind Instruments
Registration / Handbook
- Please return Registration Form to Music Office at the Downtown Campus
There are no deductions or refunds for lessons missed by the student, but we do allow make-up lessons. Students will be charged for insufficient or no notice.
Excused absences are deemed as follows:
- Medical Emergency
- Family Emergency
- Each Instructor has their own policy regarding sufficient notice for cancelling a lesson
Regular lesson attendance is expected of all students. If it is necessary for an instructor to miss a lesson, students will be notified as far in advance as possible and makeup lessons will be scheduled at a mutually convenient time.
All lessons will be taught on the campus of First Baptist Church in secure areas. The Academy requires that parents of students under the age of 18 be present at each lesson and either sit in the classroom or just outside the door. Children are never to be left alone to wait for their ride or allowed to wander the campus without supervision. Some instructors require that a parent attend the lesson with his or her child. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but these policies are in place to protect children and instructors alike.
We require all students to dress neatly and modestly for their lessons. Appropriate recital attire is required for recital performances.
Recitals And Special Programs
There will be two recitals each year, one in December and the other in May. The actual dates will be determined by the individual studios. Opportunities may be available for performance in worship services or special programs.
